BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Geneva College men's tennis team squared off with the talented Grove City Wolverines on Wednesday night at Blackhawk Courts, and despite some success in doubles play, the Golden Tornadoes couldn't pick up any points and lost 7-0. Geneva is now 2-8 on the season, 0-4 in Presidents' Athletic Conference play.
The men began the match well in doubles action. Junior Braiden Smalley and freshman Ben Busler won their match in No. 1 doubles, 6-3. Senior David Clark and sophomore Thayne Bodenmiller went to a tiebreaker in No. 2 doubles, but the pair ultimately fell, and Grove City took No. 3 doubles to earn the doubles point.
Geneva could not get any traction going in singles play, dropping all six matches.
"Grove always has a deep, strong team," said Head Coach Mandee Craft, "and today was no exception."
The men will take break from conference play on Saturday when Geneva hosts Pitt-Greensburg at 11:00 a.m. on Blackhawk Courts.
