MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Geneva women's lacrosse program completed its first-ever season of play on Wednesday afternoon, falling to the Allegheny College Gators 22-1. Fittingly, sophomore
Julianna Easley scored the lone goal for the women, ending the season as the team's top scorer with nine goals to her name.
Allegheny grabbed an advantage right from the get-go, scoring seven times in the first five minutes to gain control of the match. The Gators continued to score throughout the first half, and Geneva went into the break trailing 18-0. Easley netted her goal with 3:20 to play in the third quarter, and the GTs' defense tightened up late to hold Allegheny to just four second half goals in the loss.
Easley put four shots on target for the Golden Tornadoes, and she was the only Geneva player to record more than one shot on goal. Freshman Amanada Gillette was the GTs' top contributor on the draw in the loss, finishing the match with seven draw controls. Junior
Hannah Skwarek was solid in defense with three ground balls, and she and Gillette tied for the team lead with two caused turnovers each.
After a season full of firsts, Head Coach
Liz Geyer is set to return every player on her roster, with no seniors graduating for the GTs. She looks to continue training up the squad that she has while adding some new talent to the roster in the offseason.
