Match Recap: Women's Tennis |

Women’s Tennis Defeats Ursuline in Spring Match

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – After having a couple matches cancelled due to rain, the Geneva College women's tennis team finally had a chance to play a match during the spring semester, though the women had to move indoors to Brady's Run to get the match in due to more rain.  The wait was worth it, though, as Geneva defeated Ursuline 5-2.

The women earned the doubles point by winning two of the doubles matches.  Junior CeJaelyn Perednia and freshman Chloe DeSanzo won in No. 1 doubles 6-4, while juniors Lauren Estes and Jenna Allison won in No. 2 doubles, 6-0.

In singles play, DeSanzo won 6-2, 6-1 in No.1 singles.  Estes won 6-1, 6-1 in No. 2 singles, while sophomore Isabel Kleiman won 7-5, 6-3 in No. 3 singles.  Sophomore Paris Silverstein won the final point for the Golden Tornadoes, taking the match in No. 5 singles 6-2, 7-6.

"It was fun to switch up the lineup a bit today and see some new faces play," said Head Coach Mandee Craft.  "We had a few close matches and got a solid win."

The women are scheduled to play Franciscan tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. for their final match of the year.  If the rain holds off, it will be played at Blackhawk Courts, but if it rains, Geneva will try to play indoors at Brady's Run again.
