BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Geneva women's lacrosse team went up against a talented Washington and Jefferson College program Wednesday afternoon, falling to the Presidents 23-1. Sophomore
Julianna Easley scored the lone goal for the Golden Tornadoes, making her the team goal-scoring leader on the year. The loss drops the women's record down to 0-12 in their first-ever season, 0-6 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC), while W&J stands tall with a 4-1 record in PAC play, 7-4 overall.
The Presidents took command of the match right off the bat, scoring seven times unanswered in the first quarter. However, with just 15 seconds remaining before the quarter break, Easley snuck a shot through behind the W&J goalkeeper to get Geneva on the board. Unfortunately, that would be about the only offense the GTs could muster all afternoon, and the Presidents slowly stretched their lead as the match went on, winning 23-1.
Easley was the only player to register a shot on goal for the women. Once again, freshman
Madi DeRuiter led the defense, causing two turnovers and picking up three ground balls. Sophomore
Lexi Lee made five saves in net for the GTs.
Geneva plays its third match of the week this Saturday, April 12
th, when the women travel to Chatham for a 1:00 p.m. match with the Cougars.
