ALTOONA, Pa. – The Geneva College men's tennis team opened the fall portion of its schedule on Thursday afternoon at Penn State Altoona, and despite several matches going to three sets, the Golden Tornadoes came up on the short side of those matches and lost 6-1.
The match started well with Geneva capturing the doubles point. Senior
Braiden Smalley and sophomore
Ben Busler won No. 1 doubles 6-4, while senior
Owen Landis and junior
Thayne Bodenmiller took No. 2 doubles 6-3.
Four of the singles matches went to three sets, and all went in favor of the Lions. Smalley lost in three sets in No. 1 singles, Bodenmiller lost in three sets in No. 3 singles, Landis dropped a third-set match in No. 4 singles, and freshman
Joseph Kenneally lost in three sets in No. 5 singles.
The men have one more fall match scheduled, that one coming at Westminster on October 2. The bulk of their season occurs in the spring.
