Romano Wins Weekly Award After Spectacular Homecoming

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – Senior quarterback Caleb Romano returned to form for the Geneva College football team Saturday afternoon, leading the Golden Tornadoes to a 55-19 victory over the previously undefeated Hiram College Terriers in front of a large Homecoming crowd. Following his impressive performance, the senior was named the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Offensive Player of the Week when the organization announced its weekly awards Monday afternoon.

Romano put together one of the best games of his career versus the Terriers, completing a near-perfect 25-of-27 passes for 345 yards and five touchdowns. He also added a rushing touchdown, bringing him to six total scores on the afternoon, the third time in his career that he has recorded at least six total touchdowns in a game. His completion percentage of 92.6% was the highest mark of his career and the second highest in PAC history as well.

The senior quarterback has averaged 264.4 passing yards per game this season, second-most in the PAC. He has also completed a PAC-best 106 passes on the year while throwing for 11 touchdowns and rushing for three more scores.

The Golden Tornadoes stand at 3-2 overall, 2-1 in the PAC as they head into an important conference matchup with rival Westminster this Saturday, October 17, at 7:35 p.m. Geneva has not defeated the Titans since 2012 and will be looking to put an end to that streak this weekend.
