BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) released its first round of weekly awards for the outdoor track and field season Tuesday afternoon, and three members of the Geneva track and field program were recipients. Seniors
Carmen Medvit and
Eli Eisenberger were named the female and male PAC Track Athletes of the Week, respectively, while junior
Isaac Nirella received the PAC Field Athlete of the Week award.
Medvit was the only first-place finisher for Geneva at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge this past weekend, winning the 5000-meter race with a time of 17:29.51. She defeated multiple Division I and Division II runners in the event, beating every other competitor by at least 1:14. Her time is also the fastest in the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Region so far this year by nearly 85 seconds.
On the men's side, Eisenberger highlighted the men's distance runners with a second-place finish in the 10,000-meters. He finished in a personal best time of 32:02.41, coming in ahead of multiple Division I and Division II runners, and he holds the top mark in the Mid-Atlantic Region following one week of competition.
Nirella wrapped up the award winners for the GTs, clearing 4.10 meters in the pole vault for a third-place finish overall. It was the top mark of any Division III athlete in the event, and he was one of just two D-III athletes to place in the top five.
The Golden Tornadoes returned from Myrtle Beach earlier this week, and now they will prepare to compete in the Marty Pushkin Invitational hosted by West Virginia University this Saturday, March 21.
