Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Presidents Slip Past Men’s Tennis

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – In a very tight contest that saw multiple matches go to a third-set tiebreaker, W&J was able to pull out enough close victories to beat the Geneva College men's tennis team on Tuesday night at Blackhawk Courts, 5-2.  The men are now 3-3 on the season, 1-2 in conference play.

Senior Braiden Smalley and sophomore Ben Busler got the Golden Tornadoes off to a good start in doubles play, winning 6-2 in No. 1 doubles, but the men were unable to win either of the other two doubles matches and lost the doubles point.

Smalley and Busler came through in singles play as well for Geneva.  Smalley won 6-2, 6-2 in No. 1 singles, while Busler pulled out a three-set victory in No. 2 singles 2-6, 6-4, 6-1.  The No. 3 and No. 5 singles matches also went to three sets, with W&J winning both of those, and No. 6 singles was also a tight match that went the way of the Presidents.

Geneva will step out of conference play on Saturday when the men travel to Mount Union for a 1:00 p.m. match.
