LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Junior Molly Shelley and senior Sophia Tvaroch were named National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Second Team All-Region selections on Friday afternoon after their standout seasons.  Shelley's honor was the second straight year she's been named an NFCA All-Region selection.

Shelley was often the spark for the offense this season, batting at the top of the lineup.  When Shelley got on base, she often stole second and third bases, finishing the year with a school record 59 stolen bases.  She also broke the career stolen base record and now sits at 154 career steals, with still one season to go.  For the year she batted .361 with a .402 on-base percentage, adding 13 doubles, one triple and four home runs, while scoring 44 runs and driving in 23 RBIs.  Shelley also was one of the top defensive centerfielders in the region and was named a First Team All-PAC selection.

Tvaroch put together the best season of her career in her final year as a Golden Tornado.  She was the leading pitcher in the conference in ERA, finishing with a sparkling 1.42 ERA while allowing just a .199 batting average against.  She finished the year with a 17-3 overall record, allowing just 85 hits in 118 innings pitched, striking out 91.  Tvaroch added seven complete games and four shutouts, while also posting two saves.  She was also named a First Team All-PAC selection.
