WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Geneva College women's volleyball team dropped its opening match of the weekend at Wilmington on Friday night, falling in straight sets 25-18, 25-23, 25-16. Geneva is now 6-5 on the season.
The first set stayed closed until, with the score tied 15-15, Wilmington scored five straight points on its way to a 25-18 victory.
The second set was a frustrating one for the women. They led for most of the set, extending their margin to 23-19 late. However, Geneva struggled from that point, allowing Wilmington to score the final six points to win 25-23.
Geneva was unable to recover from the late struggles in set two. Wilmington jumped ahead quickly in the third set, 8-3, and the Owls pulled away from there to a 25-16 win.
Senior Katie Seboe led the team with seven kills. Freshman Kyla Kephart had ten assists, while freshman Sarah Elkins posted a team-high seven digs.
Geneva will head to Kenyon tonight for a tri-match on Saturday. The women will take on Kenyon at 12:00 p.m. followed by a match against Pitt-Greensburg at 2:00 p.m.
