Women’s Tennis Returns to Win Column Versus Thiel

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Geneva women's tennis team got back to winning ways on Tuesday night, defeating Thiel College 7-0 on the Blackhawk Tennis Courts. It is the fourth sweep for the Golden Tornadoes in their last five matches, with a loss to Grove City on Saturday the only blemish in the midst of a dominant stretch over the last nine days for the women. Their record improves to 4-4 overall with the win, 2-3 in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play.

Junior Chloe DeSanzo and senior Rachel Hodsden began the evening with a 6-0 victory in No. 1 doubles. Sophomore Paige Phillips and senior Paris Silverstein then combined to win 6-1 in No. 2 doubles to give Geneva the doubles point.

DeSanzo, Hodsden, sophomore Abigail Anderson, and Phillips each won their singles matches 6-0, 6-0, in the first through fourth slots, respectively. Senior Julia Grove took her match in No. 5 singles 6-1, 6-3, and then freshman Audrey Underwood finished off the dominant win for the GTs with a 6-1, 6-2 victory in No. 6 singles.

The women will have to wait a week until their next match, a road tilt against PAC opponent Waynesburg on Tuesday, October 6, at 5:00 p.m. It will then be another weeklong wait for the Golden Tornadoes until the match after that.
