Entering his sixth year on College Hill after a head coaching stint at the high school level, Mike is where he started in 1987, as an assistant for Coach Gene Sullivan. Continuing in that role for Coach DeMarco, Mike has been an integral part of the football program’s success, demonstrating integrity, enthusiasm and knowledge at the collegiate level. Whether serving as the running backs’ coach or offensive coordinator, over the last twenty years, Mike has demonstrated the model of servant leadership.Â
DeChellis graduated from Beaver Falls High School, prior to beginning his collegiate playing career at Westminster College. He began his football coaching career at Blackhawk High School as an assistant from 1978-86. He also guided the Blackhawk girl’s basketball team to a WPIAL championship. Mike’s son, David, a former starter for the Golden Tornadoes as a defensive back, graduated as valedictorian in Pre-Med, and recently opened his practice in pain management in Wexford, PA. The DeChellis family resides in Chippewa Township.Â
