Chris Sauer is entering his first year as an Assistant Coach with the men’s soccer program. Sauer joins the Golden Tornadoes after a long and successful run as a high school coach. Sauer earned a degree in Mathematics Education from Messiah College in 1996, and was a member of the men’s soccer team. Upon graduation, Sauer was the head coach at Lewistown Area High School where he took the boy’s team to their first ever playoff appearance in his first year. He later moved back to his hometown to lead the Midd-West High School boy’s program. Known for his ability to create a positive team culture and players with tremendous work rates, Sauer led the Midd-West program to over 200 wins and multiple league and district championships, along with two trips to the state final four. Sauer has worked camps at Messiah College, the US Naval Academy, and Geneva College. He is also the director of the Crested Crane FC Soccer Sponsorship, a program that pairs local teams with teams in northern Uganda, providing them with sorely needed equipment. He leads trips to Uganda each summer to deliver equipment, run training sessions, and relationally invest in the teams while sharing the love and hope of Jesus. He currently resides in Middleburg, PA with his wife Carla and children Cole (20), Carter (18), Chloe (14), and Cali (12) and teaches Geometry at Midd-West High School.
