BETHANY, W. Va – The Geneva College women's tennis picked up its first Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) win of the season on Friday night when it traveled to Bethany College and defeated the Bison, 8-1. It was a rematch of a match between the two schools at Geneva two weeks earlier, which Geneva also won, though that match did not count in the PAC standings. With the win, Geneva is now 3-2 overall, 1-1 in the PAC, while Bethany fell to 1-2, 0-1 in the PAC.
Geneva swept the doubles portion of the match, winning all three matches as senior
Katherine Deitrick and junior
Rachael Letterman won in #1 doubles, junior
Jana Newberry and sophomore
Felicity Orndoff won in #2 doubles, and junior
Victoria Hinds and sophomore
Bekah Locke picked up a win in #3 doubles.
In singles action, Geneva won five of the six matches, with Letterman, Orndoff, Hinds, Newberry, and senior
Michelle Kisiel all picking up victories.
"This was a great first PAC win for us," said Head Coach
Mandee Craft. "Some of the matches were harder than the scores indicate, and we really had to fight to get the win."
Geneva returns home for the first time in five matches, and it has the task of matching up against the preseason PAC favorite, Grove City, when it hosts the Wolverines on Wednesday, September 19, at 6:00 p.m.
