Match Recap: Women's Tennis |

Rain Can’t Stop Women’s Tennis

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Geneva College women's tennis team took care of business against the visiting Waynesburg Yellow Jackets on Friday evening, 8-1, in a match interrupted by heavy thunderstorms.  The Golden Tornadoes started the match at Blackhawk Courts, but the two teams had to finish the match indoor at Brady's Run Courts after the heavy rains forced the teams inside.  Geneva improved to 4-3 on the season, 2-2 in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play, while Waynesburg fell to 1-3, 0-3 in the PAC.

Geneva swept through the singles matches, as all six Golden Tornadoes easily won their flights.  That allowed Head Coach Mandee Craft to give some playing time during the doubles matches to her younger players, and those players ended up winning two of the three doubles matches as well.

"Today was a solid win for us, and an unusual match in that every team member was able to take part," said Coach Craft after the win.  "It was nice to see our freshmen step in and rise to the occasion."

Geneva will be back out onto the court on Tuesday, with a 6:00 p.m. match with Washington & Jefferson at Blackhawk Courts.
