BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Geneva College women's tennis team finished up the non-conference portion of its fall schedule on Tuesday night with a match against La Roche College at Blackhawks Courts, and the Golden Tornadoes easily picked up the victory, 8-1. Geneva improved to 6-4, while La Roche fell to 3-8.
Geneva picked up three convincing wins in doubles action to start the match. Senior
Jana Newberry (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) and junior

Victoria Hoal (Montrose, Pa./Montrose) and

Caleigh Pumphrey (Martinsburg, W.Va./Hedgesville) and freshman
Laura Lin Comollo (Smyrna, Del./Polytech) won in #3 doubles, 8-0.
In singles action, Geneva won five of the matches. Hoal, Newberry, Comollo, Pumphrey and freshman
Emily Grove (Evans City, Pa./Seneca Valley) each picked up wins during the singles portion, with Newberry, Comollo and Pumphrey cruising in their matches.
"It was great to get a solid non-conference win as we get closer to the conference tournament," said Head Coach
Mandee Craft. "We relied some on our younger players who haven't had as much of a chance to play as consistently this season, and it was encouraging to see them play well."
Geneva finishes up the regular season with a match against Bethany next Wednesday, October 16, at Blackhawk Courts, starting at 6:00 p.m. If the Golden Tornadoes win that match, they place themselves in good position to earn a home match to open the Presidents' Athletic Conference tournament.
