NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Geneva College men's and women's track and field teams had a beautiful day for competition on Saturday, as both teams traveled to Westminster College to take part in the Westminster Invitational.  There were several standout performances, led by the men's 4x100m relay team that broke the school record.

For the women, freshman Olivia Younger (McDonald, Pa./West Allegheny) continued her standout freshman campaign, finishing second in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.86 seconds.  Freshman Lydia Ofalt (Montrose, Pa./Elk Lake) finished ninth in the 400m with a time of 1:03.33, while sophomore Anna Ormsby (Martinsburg, Pa./Central) came in 11^th in the javelin with a personal record distance of 31.29 meters.  The 4x400m relay team of Younger, Ofalt, freshman Katryn Gatchell (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) and junior Lydia Swartzbaugh (Spartansburg, Pa./Spartansburg) finished second with a time of 4:14.84.

For the men, senior Aaron Tedys (Beaver Falls, Pa./Riverside) had a great day.  He won the 400m in a time of 49.09 seconds, fastest in the conference this season.  He also ran on the 4x100m relay team along with senior Alex Parker (Meadville, Pa./Meadville), junior David Dill (Canal Fulton, Ohio/Northwest) and sophomore Dom Data (New Castle, Pa./Shenango) that set the school record in 41.51 seconds, fastest in the conference this season.

In addition, junior Micah Daigneault (Smithsburg, Md./Smithsburg) won the 1500m in a time of 4:08.80.  Sophomore Caleb Schaelchlin (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) finished second in the 800m with a time of 1:57.40 seconds.  Junior Raymond Hagg (West Sunbury, Pa./Moniteau) set a personal record in the pole vault with a height of 4.3 meters, second best in the conference this season.  Also, sophomore Nic Miller performed well in the shot put, finishing eighth with a throw of 13.10 meters.

"We treat this like our Pre-PAC meet every year," said Head Coach Phil Thompson.  "This is by far the best the team has competed.  I'm very proud of the effort from everyone.  Both teams came out here and showed that they are ready, and there were some big performances from a lot of people.  The men's time in the 4x100m relay is actually in the top ten in the country, and the women's 4x400m relay put up a very strong time as well."

Geneva will look forward to being home next Wednesday when the Golden Tornadoes will host the Geneva Invite starting at around 3:00 p.m.
