GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Geneva College women's tennis team opened Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play on Tuesday evening, and the schedule-makers did not do the Golden Tornadoes any favors as Geneva opened the season on the road against Grove City. Grove City, who comes into this season as the reigning two-time PAC Champions, swept Geneva, 9-0. Grove City improved to 3-0, 2-0 in the PAC, while Geneva suffered its first loss of the season, falling to 2-1, 0-1 in the PAC.
Geneva's best shot at picking up a point came in #3 doubles as senior
Bekah Locke (Atwater, Ohio/Marlington) and sophomore
Mady Paquet (Ellsworth, Wisc./Ellsworth) narrowly lost, 8-6. In singles action, no Golden Tornado was able to win a set, as the Wolverines cruised to the sweep.
"Grove City is always a powerhouse in the PAC, and they showed it again today," said Head Coach
Mandee Craft. "We battled hard, but it wasn't enough today."
Geneva doesn't have to wait long to get back on the court. The Golden Tornadoes will host Saint Vincent on Friday at Blackhawk Courts, starting at 6:00 p.m.
