Match Recap: Women's Tennis |

Women’s Tennis Makes It Two Straight Victories

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Geneva College women's tennis team earned its second straight victory on Monday night with a 5-2 victory over La Roche.  Both teams only had five players available, so the match was played to seven instead of nine.  Geneva improved to 3-6 overall, while La Roche dropped to 0-8.

There were just two doubles matches to start the day, with sophomore Ella Miller (Freedom, Pa./Ambridge) and freshman Delaney Winterhalter (Carnegie, Pa./South Fayette) winning their match in #2 doubles 8-0.

In singles action, Winterhalter also earned a victory in #2 singles by a 6-2, 6-1 score.  Senior Caleigh Pumphrey (Martinsburg, W.Va./Hedgesville) won in #3 singles 6-1, 6-2, and Miller added her second point of the day with a win in #4 singles 6-1, 6-0.  Freshman Cassy Kehs (Cochranville, Pa./Oxford Area) wrapped up the match with a win in #5 singles 6-0, 6-0.

"It feels great to get a couple wins in a row after facing some challenges earlier in the season," said Head Coach Mandee Craft.  "Hopefully we can finish out strong on Wednesday."

The Golden Tornadoes wrap up their regular season on Wednesday with a home match against Thiel at 6:00 p.m.
