WASHINGTON, Pa. – It was a rough week for the Geneva College women's tennis team, who took on two high-level tennis teams in the past four days. After losing to Franciscan earlier in the week, the Golden Tornadoes dropped a decision at W&J on Saturday afternoon, 8-1. W&J improved to 2-1, while Geneva fell to 2-2.
The only Golden Tornado to register a victory for Geneva was sophomore
Emily Grove (Evans City, Pa./Seneca Valley). Grove won her match in #4 singles by a score of 6-1, 6-4.
"We're playing pretty well and improving with each match," said Head Coach
Mandee Craft. "Today W&J was just a little too good for us. It's hard to dig out of a 3-0 hole after the doubles matches complete. Emily came through with a good win in singles, though."
The schedule doesn't get any easier for the Golden Tornadoes, though Geneva will get to enjoy a nice ten-day break with Easter upcoming. The Golden Tornadoes won't be back in action until Wednesday, April 7, when Geneva hosts Grove City.
