WAYNESBURG, Pa. – The Geneva College women's tennis team wrapped up its regular season on a chilly Friday afternoon by going on the road and sweeping Waynesburg, 9-0. The victory evens Geneva's record at 4-4 overall, 4-4 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC), while Waynesburg dropped to 1-6, 1-6 in the PAC.
The Golden Tornadoes opened the match by picking up all three doubles victories. Senior

Ella Miller (Freedom, Pa./Ambridge) won in #3 doubles, 8-2.
In singles action, Orndoff won in #1 singles 6-4, 6-4. McCall had to battle in #2 singles, dropping the first set but coming back to win in a third-set tiebreaker 5-7, 6-1, 10-7. Newberry won in #3 singles 6-3, 6-3, and Paquet won in #4 singles 6-1, 6-1. Rounding out the singles action was sophomore
Emily Grove (Evans City, Pa./Seneca Valley) winning #5 singles 6-2, 6-2, and sophomore
Laura Lin Comollo (Smyrna, Del./Polytech) winning in #6 singles 6-3, 6-2.
"This was such a great way to end our regular season and head into PACs," said Head Coach
Mandee Craft. "We played so well today, against a very solid Waynesburg team. Kaylee had an especially great win, as she had to play their former #1 player and fought back after a tough first set."
With the win, Geneva finishes the season tentatively as the #5 seed for the upcoming PAC playoffs, scheduled to begin next Tuesday, April 20. W&J is currently in fourth place in the conference, but the Presidents had their final three matches canceled due to a COVID issue within the program, so the brackets won't be officially set until the conference finalizes the standings.
