Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Heidelberg too Strong for Women’s Soccer

TIFFIN, Ohio – The Geneva College women's soccer team headed to Heidelberg on Saturday knowing it was facing one of its toughest opponents so far this season, and it took the Student Princes less than a minute to get on the scoreboard in a 6-1 victory over the Golden Tornadoes.  Heidelberg improved to 4-1, while Geneva dropped to 1-4.

Heidelberg scored just 24 seconds into the match off the foot of Madi Lause, putting Geneva into an early hole.  The Student Princes doubled their lead in the 18th minute on a goal from Audrey Kaufman, the first of three goals for the Heidelberg striker.  By the time halftime hit, the Golden Tornadoes were staring at a 4-0 deficit.

Kaufman scored twice in the second half for her hat trick, but freshman Abby Shoaff (Bessemer, Pa./Mohawk) did get Geneva on the scoreboard in between Kaufman's goals, in the 76th minute, off an assist from freshman Lillie Berryman (Mansfield, Ohio/Mansfield Christian), avoiding the shutout in the 6-1 loss.

Heidelberg finished the game with a 30-10 edge in shots, including a 15-5 advantage in shots on goal.  Freshman Jade Farnsworth (New Brighton, Pa./Riverside) did make nine saves.

Geneva gets a chance to finally return home after opening with four of its first five games on the road, with two homes games scheduled this upcoming week, starting with Pitt-Greensburg on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
