BEAVER FALLS, Pa. --- The Geneva women's soccer team played a very competitive match against Chatham on Saturday afternoon but ended up on the downside of a 3-2 score.
Both teams battled in the first half with Geneva taking the initial lead. The Golden Tornadoes got on the scoreboard first in the 20th minute on a breakaway goal by sophomore Saige Musser. Chatham evened the score, 1-1, in the 32nd minute on a rebound shot by Ava Krepp following the initial block by Golden Tornado keeper Jade Farnsworth.
Chatham took the lead, 2-1, on a straight-on goal by Morgan Anderson off of a pass from Ainsley Smith in the 77th minute as both teams battled for field position throughout the half.
Three minutes later Musser tied the game for Geneva following a clearance by the Cougar keeper, 2-2. But Chatham answered in the next minute on a second goal by Anderson, 3-2. The teams continued to swap ends of the field over the final 8:30 of the match with neither team finding the back of the net.
The Golden Tornadoes (4-10-3, 2-6-1) wrap up the regular season with PAC action on Wednesday, October 26 at Waynesburg. Game time in Waynesburg, Pa. is set for 6:00 p.m.
