LATROBE, Pa. --- The Geneva women's cross country team finished second at the 2022 Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships, hosted on the campus of Saint Vincent, with 83 points.
"This was an incredible finish by our women," said head coach
Phil Thompson. "I can't be more proud of this team. We need to carry this momentum into Regionals in a couple of weeks."
The Golden Tornadoes packed well to put the top four runners in the top 16 across the finish line of the 6,000-meter race. Sophomore
Madison Castro led the way for Geneva with a time of 23:34.20 in 11
th place. Freshman
Hailey Carroll and sophomore
Carmen Medvit followed in quick succession in 12
th and 13
th places. Carroll ran a 23:51.55, while Medvit finished in 23:58.73. Junior
Jaci Mennetti ended up in 16
th place at 24:10.53, while junior
Catherine O'Donnell provided the fifth score in 31
st place in 25:08.50.
Castro, Carroll and Medvit were named All-PAC Second Team, while Mennetti received Honorable Mention recognition.
The Golden Tornadoes will spend the next two weeks preparing for the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, November 12.
