Women’s Tennis Drops Regular Season Finale to Westminster

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Geneva College women's tennis team dropped its regular season finale to Westminster on Thursday night on Blackhawk Courts, 8-1.  Prior to the match Geneva recognized its lone senior, Laura Lin Comollo (Smyrna, Dela./Polytech), who is wrapping up her playing career this year.  Geneva's record dropped to 6-5 overall, 3-5 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC), while Westminster improved to 9-3, 4-3 in the PAC.

Geneva dropped all three doubles matches before freshman Lauren Estes (Chattanooga, Tenn./Grace Baptist Academy) earned the lone Golden Tornado point in No. 1 singles.  She won the first set 7-5 and was leading 1-0 in the second set when her opponent retired.

"We'd always like to close out the season with a win, but we couldn't do that tonight, even though we had some good battles," said Head Coach Mandee Craft.  "We also want to thank Laura Lin for an amazing four years of strong play and even stronger leadership.  We will miss her next year!"

The women will now need to wait and see how the other conference matches finish up to determine whether they will qualify for the PAC playoffs.  A win over the Titans would have clinched a spot, but now the Golden Tornadoes will need some help to make it into the postseason.
