SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Geneva College men's and women's track and field teams continued their outdoor season on Saturday when they traveled to Slippery Rock to take part in the Dave Labor Invitational. The meet had Division I, Division II and Division III schools competing.
Senior Dom Data (New Castle, Pa./Shenango) led the way again. He won the 200-meter race with a time of 21.73 seconds. He also placed third in the 100-meter dash in a time of 11.00 seconds, while running on the 4x100-meter relay team that finished fourth with a time of 42.36.
In addition, sophomore Noah Foust (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg) had good efforts in the discus (42.05 meters) and shot put (12.45 meters), while freshman Kevin Arseneaux (Yarmouth Port, Mass./Dennis Yarmouth-Regional) ran a time of 53.11 seconds in the 400-meter race.
For the women, senior Jessie Taylor (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin) was the highest finisher, placing seventh in the 5000-meters with a time of 18:59.95. Senior Katryn Gatchell (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) ran a time of 2:23.32 in the 800-meters, while senior Olivia Younger (McDonald, Pa./West Allegheny) ran times of 13.53 seconds in the 100-meter dash and 27.86 seconds in the 200-meter dash. In addition, junior Naomi Swartzbaugh (Spartansburg, Pa/Spartansburg) ran times of 16.80 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles and 1:12.09 in the 400-meter hurdles.
Both teams are back in action next Saturday, April 9, at the Westminster Invitational.
