MEADVILLE, Pa. – A limited number of athletes from the Geneva men's and women's track and field team competed on Friday at the Allegheny Marty Goldberg Gator Invitational, Geneva's final competition before the President's Athletic Conference (PAC) Outdoor Championships occur next Thursday and Friday. Many Golden Tornadoes took the weekend off in preparations for the championships next week.
Senior
Allison Standish fared well in the throws. She placed second in the weight throw with a distance of 46.49 meters, while she finished fifth in the shot put with a toss of 11.68 meters. Senior
Emily Garvin also threw well, placing second in the javelin with a throw of 37.39 meters.
Not many sprinters competed at the meet for Geneva. Sophomores
Arionna White and
Sara Vos did race in the 100-meters, and White placed third with a time of 12.76 seconds while Vos was just behind with a time of 12.77 seconds. Sophomore
Olivia Seetoo added a fifth-place finish in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:12.33.
For the men, freshman
Amiri Copeland finished fifth in the long jump with a distance of 6.31 meters, with freshman
Cooper Wilkins finishing seventh with a jump of 6.28 meters.
Senior
Alec McCready placed fifth in the 400-meters with a time of 52.75, while sophomore
Isaiah Etheridge finished sixth with a time of 53.73 seconds.
Freshmen
Zach Lucas (16.41 seconds) and
Andrew Potter (16.91 seconds) finished fifth and sixth in the 110-meter hurdles.
The PAC Championships will take place on Thursday and Friday of next week at West Virginia University. The men and women will be trying to defend their indoor PAC Championship victories from February.
