MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Geneva College men's track and field team finished third at the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships on Thursday and Friday afternoon, hosted at West Virginia University. The men were led by big days from senior Dom Data (New Castle, Pa./Shenango) and freshman Kevin Arseneaux (Yarmouth Port, Mass./Dennis-Yarmouth Regional), with Arseneaux being named the PAC Newcomer of the Year. Westminster won the championship.
Data again won the 200-meter dash in a time of 21.43 seconds. He also placed second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.63 seconds.
Arseneaux brought home three top-three finishes. In the 1500-meter race, Arseneaux finished second in a time of 3:58.89. In the 800-meter race, he also finished second in a time of 1:53.76. Lastly, Arseneaux placed third in the 5000-meter race, finishing in a time of 15:49.76.
The men had a few others come through with top five finishes. Sophomore Noah Foust (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg) placed third in the discus with a toss of 41.77 meters, while sophomore Andrew Decker (Meyersdale, Pa./Meyersdale) placed third in the pole vault, clearing 3.37 meters.
Freshman Kyle Garman (Hanover, Pa./Hanover) had a strong day in the jumps. He placed fourth in the triple jump with a jump of 13.04 meters. He also placed fifth in the high jump, clearing 1.75 meters. Junior Josiah Helmer (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) placed fourth in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:26.93. He also placed fifth in the 10000-meters with a time of 34:03.77. Freshman Eric Hardman (East Palestine, Ohio/Wellsville) placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing in 57.64 seconds.
In addition, the men's 4x100-meter relay finished second in 42.85. Data, junior Josh Blessing (Hershey, Pa./Lower Dauphin) and freshmen Desmond Lewis (Fort Worth, Texas/Saginaw) and Gabe Trexler (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) ran on that relay. In the 4x400-meter relay, Geneva finished fifth in 3:31.88 with Lewis, seniors Felix Hernandez (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) and Gabe Willis (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts), and freshman Brian Cline (Bessemer, Pa./Mohawk) running on that relay.
Several of these Golden Tornadoes have qualified for the National Christian College Athletic Association Championships which will be held over three days at Greenville University, beginning on Wednesday, May 11.
