BEREA, Ohio – The Geneva College women's soccer team knew it had a tall task ahead of it as the Golden Tornadoes traveled to take on a talented Baldwin Wallace team on Wednesday night. Adding to the difficulty was the fact Geneva had just 13 available field players due to several injuries the Golden Tornadoes are battling, including missing several key starters, and those challenges were too much to overcome in a 4-0 defeat to the Yellow Jackets. Geneva dropped to 1-3-2, while Baldwin Wallace improved to 4-1.
Baldwin Wallace took control of the match early with two goals from the Yellow Jackets' Sydney Rice in the first 25 minutes. Baldwin Wallace added a third goal late in the first half to take a 3-0 lead into the halftime break.
The Yellow Jackets kept the pressure up in the second half, adding a fourth goal in the 69th minute to close out the scoring, 4-0.
Baldwin Wallace finished with a big advantage in shots, 24-5, and shots on goal, 12-3. Sophomore goalkeeper Jade Farnsworth (New Brighton, Pa./Riverside) had a strong second half, stopping six of the seven shots she faced.
Geneva returns home for a contest with Penn State Beaver on Friday night, beginning at 7:00 p.m. down on the grass field at the Merriman Athletic Complex.
