STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – The Geneva College women's tennis team dropped a match at reigning Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) champion Franciscan, 9-0, on a Wednesday evening in which both teams had to dodge some rain at times. Geneva dropped to 4-4 overall, 1-4 in the PAC, while Franciscan improved to 6-2, 4-1 in the PAC.
Geneva struggled all night against the talented Barons. The women's closest match came in No. 2 doubles as junior Ella Miller (Freedom, Pa./Ambridge) and sophomore Delaney Winterhalter (Carnegie, Pa./South Fayette) lost 8-5.
"With stops and starts from rain, we were just glad to get the match in," said Head Coach Mandee Craft. "Franciscan is a really talented team, but I thought we battled well."
The women will return to action on Saturday when Geneva hosts Thiel at 1:00 p.m. on Blackhawk Courts.
