ELLWOOD CITY, Pa. – The Geneva women's golf team was victorious in its 2022-23 season opener against Presidents' Athletic Conference opponent Waynesburg, 384-453, at the par-71, 5,085-yard course at Connoquenessing Country Club on Tuesday afternoon.
"The women played great today" said first-year Geneva head coach
Henry Kennedy. "They showed that even when they didn't play up to their expectations, that they were still consistent and able to put together a good score, which is very promising for the rest of the season."
Sophomore
Sabienea Winston led the charge taking medalist honors with a 91 (+20) to begin the season, while junior
Hannah Therrell finished second with a 94 (+23).
Karlee Bittner and
Anna Kaminski rounded out the team scoring for the Golden Tornado win.
Geneva, in its fourth season of women's golf varsity competition, returns to action on Monday, Sept. 12 at the Grove City Fall Invitational.
