BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – It's been quite the start to his track and field career for senior Jack Garvin, who joined the Geneva College track and field program for the first time this year and in just a little over a month has already broken the school record in the high jump. Garvin earned two more weekly awards this week, his third and fourth of the year, getting named the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Field Athlete of the Week and the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Track and Field Rookie of the Week.
Garvin has been steadily improving his performance during the indoor season in the high jump, and on Saturday at the Mount Union Jim Wuske Invitational he cleared 1.97 meters, breaking a school record set 25 years ago. That jump is tops in the PAC this season and the 33rd best jump in all of NCAA Division III. Garvin also holds the seventh fastest time in the PAC this season, 7.26 seconds, in the 60-meter dash.
Garvin, along with a number of his track and field teammates, will be heading to Cedarville this weekend to participate in the NCCAA Indoor National Championships beginning on Friday.
