TYRONE, Pa. --- The Geneva College women's cross country team got the 2023 season underway at the Father Bede Invitational, hosted by Saint Francis (PA) on Friday afternoon. Sophomore
Hailey Carroll earned a spot on the podium with a second-place finish.
Carroll ran a time of 19:17.0 over the 5-kilometer course. Sophomore
Carmen Medvit joined Carroll on the podium in fourth place in a time of 19:31.7. As a team, the Golden Tornadoes placed fourth with 124 points against a mixed field of NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA teams from around western and central Pennsylvania.
Freshman
Jordann Hicks made her collegiate debut with a time of 22:17.6 and was the third Geneva racer over the finish line.
Anna Castro, a freshman and younger sister of veteran runner
Madison Castro, was the fourth scorer for the Golden Tornadoes in 22:42.7, while rookie
Lydia Nagel rounded out the team scoring with a time of 22:59.8.
Geneva returns to action at the Bethany Bison Invitational on Saturday, September 9. Race begins at 10 a.m.
