Women’s Tennis Drops Home Opener to W&J

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Geneva College women's tennis team played some competitive matches in its home opener on Tuesday night against W&J, but the Presidents eventually prevailed, 7-2.  Geneva is now 2-2 overall, 1-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC).

Geneva lost all three matches in doubles play, including tight matches in #1 doubles (6-8) and #2 doubles (7-8).  That put the women in a hole heading into singles play.

The women earned wins by freshman Rachel Hodsden (7-5, 6-2) in #3 singles and sophomore Jenna Allison (7-5, 6-4) in #6 singles.

"While doubles definitely didn't go our way today, I was really pleased with how we fought back and made singles very competitive," said Head Coach Mandee Craft.  "Everyone fought had and kept their heads in the game."

The women now head to Saint Vincent on Friday for a 4:00 p.m. match with the Bearcats.
