BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Geneva College women's tennis team wrapped up a busy week with a tight match against Franciscan on Friday night at Blackhawk Courts, but the Golden Tornadoes fell just short, losing 5-4. Geneva dropped to 2-6, 1-5 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC), while Franciscan improved to 5-2 overall, 3-1 in the PAC.
Geneva picked up one win in double action. Sophomores Jenna Allison and CeJaelyn Perednia defeated their opponent in #3 doubles, 8-4.
In singles play, freshman Rachel Hodsden earned a three-set win in #3 singles 6-4, 5-7, 6-0. Senior Jessica Bout also earned a three-set victory in #5 singles 6-3, 4-6, 6-0. Senior Ella Miller wrapped up the wins for the women with a victory in #6 singles 6-3, 6-0.
"We fought hard tonight," said Head Coach Mandee Craft. "Jess and Rachel did especially well to come back from losing their second sets and play strong third sets. I'm really proud of the way we played."
Geneva will return to action at Westminster on Monday with a match against the Titans beginning at 4:00 p.m.
