Women Welcome Medvit Back at SUNY Geneseo

GENESEO, N.Y. – The Geneva College women's cross country team competed at the SUNY Geneseo Mike Woods Invitational on Saturday morning, happy to have junior Carmen Medvit back, one of the top runners in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC), after she missed the first two months of the season nursing an injury.  Medvit paced the Golden Tornadoes in the meet, which contained almost 400 runners from 29 schools.

Medvit finished 98th overall in the 6K race, finishing with a time of 23:47, a strong performance considering she was taking a more measured approach to her first race of the semester.  Senior Madison Castro wasn't far behind Medvit, finishing with a time of 24:07, which placed her 123rd overall in the tightly packed race.

Graduate student Catherine O'Donnell was third for Geneva, finishing with a time of 24:22, which placed her 146th.  Freshman Audrey McAlister also ran well, finishing with a personal best time of 24:50, which placed her among the top half of runners in 187th place.  Freshman Sienna Jackson rounded out the top five runners for the Golden Tornadoes with a time of 26:46.

Geneva will take a week off next weekend before competing in the PAC Championship race on Saturday, November 2, at the Lawrence Country Fairgrounds on the same track the women competed on for a race in September.  Their championship race is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m.
