NEW CASTLE, Pa. – Junior Carmen Medvit led the Geneva College women's cross country team to a sixth-place finish on Saturday morning at the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship race, hosted at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds. Allegheny won the championship race.
Medvit, who only just returned to racing two weeks ago after battling through an injury through most of the season, finished 15th overall with a time of 23:44 in the 6K race. That performance earned Medvit All-PAC Honorable Mention honors.
Senior Madison Castro also ran well at the event, placing 27th with a time of 24:22. Graduate student Catherine O'Donnell wasn't far behind Castro, placing 29th with a time of 24:41, and freshman Audrey McAlister, who really came on late in the year, wasn't far behind with a time of 24:51, which put her in 31st place. Sophomore Jordann Hicks rounded out the top five for Geneva with a time of 25:59, putting her in 49th place.
The top runners for the Golden Tornadoes will now prepare for the NCAA Regionals, which will be held at Lock Haven University on Saturday, November 16, with a start time of 11:00 a.m. The top finishers in that race will qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championship race.
