Men’s Cross Country Narrowly Edged Out for PAC Championship

NEW CASTLE, Pa. – The Geneva College men's cross country team came as close as possible to winning its first Presidents' Athletics Conference (PAC) Championship on Saturday morning, hosted at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds.  The Golden Tornadoes ran a great race but lost by one point to Franciscan in the final standings, which is comprised of each team's top five runners.  The second-place finish is the best finish for the men's program since joining the PAC in 2011.

Senior Kevin Arseneaux, the reigning PAC Champion from last season, led Geneva on Saturday, finishing second overall with a time of 25:42 in the 8K race.  That performance earned him First Team All-PAC honors for the third straight year.

Junior Tommy Corbin ran a very strong race, placing 13th overall with a time of 26:41.  His time earned him Second Team All-PAC honors.

Freshman Ethan Haring led a pack four runners that weren't far behind Corbin.  Haring finished 16th overall with a time of 26:50, which was the best time of any freshman at the meet, earning him the PAC Newcomer of the Year honors.  Juniors Karter Reath and Eli Eisenberger were close behind Haring.  Reath finished 18th with a time of 26:58, while Eisenberger finished 19th with a time of 26:59.  Both earned Honorable Mention All-PAC honors.

Geneva's sixth-place finisher, which didn't count towards the team standing, junior Benjamin Perka, was just two spots behind Eisenberger, finishing 21st overall with a time of 27:04, which also earned him Honorable Mention All-PAC honors.

The top runners of the men will now prepare for the NCAA Regionals coming up, hosted at Lock Haven University on Saturday, November 16, at 12:00 p.m.  The top finishers in that race will qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championship race.
