NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Both the men's and women's cross country teams participated in the Westminster Fisher Invite today, hosted by Westminster College, with the men's team taking the victory and the women's side finishing in third place. Junior
Eli Eisenberger was the top finisher from either team, placing second for the men. The Invite was a 5k race for both the men and women. A number of the runners from both sides took a more relaxed pace for much of the competition in an effort to ease back into the upcoming season.
The men's team dominated the competition, placing five runners in the top eight overall and ten in the top 20. Eisenberger took second overall with a time of 16:21.47. Close behind him were freshman
Ethan Haring and junior
Karter Reath, finishing in fourth and fifth place, respectively, with times of 16:25.53 and 16:28.78. Senior
Kevin Arseneaux took sixth by running a 16:31.22, and junior
Benjamin Perka rounded out the Geneva runners in the top ten with an eighth-place finish and a time of 16:39.14. Five more runners from the men's side placed between 13
th and 19
th in the race.
Despite resting the majority of their top runners on Friday, the women's team still took a very respectable third place overall at the Invite. They had three runners claim spots in the top 20, with freshman
Sienna Jackson leading the way with a tenth-place finish and a time of 21:32.80. Freshman
Audrey McAlister took 16
th place with a 21:54.52 time, and sophomore
Lydia Nagel ran a 22:06.81 and placed 18
th overall.
Both Geneva teams will now turn their attention to the Presidents' Athletic Conference Preview Meet, which will take place on Saturday, September 7th, at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds.
