Women’s Tennis Returns to Win Column with Sweep of La Roche

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – Two days after a narrow loss to Westminster, the Geneva College women's tennis team rebounded in impressive fashion, sweeping La Roche University on Thursday night at Blackhawk Courts, 7-0.  Geneva improved to 3-1 on the season with the victory.

The women made quick work of the doubles portion of the match.  Freshman Chloe DeSanzo and junior Lauren Estes swept their opponent in the first flight.  Sophomores Emma Kline and Caroline Reed won 6-2 in No. 2 doubles, while junior Jenna Allison and sophomore Paris Silverstein swept their opponents in No. 3 doubles, 6-0.  Those wins earned Geneva the one point for doubles play.

Things went just as smoothly in singles action.  DeSanzo easily won in No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-1, while Estes took No. 2 singles 6-3, 6-1.  Allison and Reed swept their opponents in No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively, while Kline won No. 5 singles 6-1, 6-0.  Sophomore Julia Grove finished out the sweep with a 6-2, 6-0 victory in No. 6 singles.

"We got to see some different faces for us on the court today, which is always fun," said Head Coach Mandee Craft.  "Now we look forward to a few days off to prepare for Grove City on Wednesday."

The women will host Grove City next Wednesday for a 6:00 p.m. match with the reigning conference champions.
