BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – Women's tennis completed their third sweep of the season Saturday afternoon against Penn State Altoona, giving them a perfect 5-0 record in non-conference play this season. The women have an overall record of 5-4 after the victory, and they are set to complete the remainder of their conference schedule and over the next two weeks. They will look to string a couple of wins together to make a late-season run at a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) playoff spot.
The match began with doubles play, and the Golden Tornadoes set the tone for the rest of the afternoon by sweeping all three doubles matches to win the point. Freshman
Chloe DeSanzo and junior
Lauren Estes took the No. 1 doubles match with ease, 6-0, and senior
Delaney Winterhalter and sophomore
Rachel Hodsden followed suit with a 6-3 victory in the second flight. The No. 3 doubles match was a little closer, but junior
CeJaelyn Perednia and sophomore
Caroline Reed were able to close things out by winning it 7-5.
DeSanzo continued her dominance with a 6-0, 6-1 win in the top singles flight, where she has only lost once all season. Estes grabbed a decisive 6-1, 6-3 victory in the No. 2 spot, and Winterhalter was able to survive a close first set and get the win in No. 3 singles as well, 6-4, 6-2. Hodsden won her match 6-3, 6-3 in No. 4 singles, and after dropping her first set sophomore
Isabel Kleiman ended up taking the No. 5 match in three sets. Finally, junior
Jenna Allison had a close match in the No. 6 spot but ended up winning 7-6, 6-4.
"This was a big win for us, especially bouncing back from Thursday's loss," said Head Coach

The GTs remain at home for a 6:00 PM match against Saint Vincent on Wednesday, October 2
