BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Geneva women's volleyball team hosted top-ranked Thiel College on Wednesday night in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match, but fell to the Tomcats in three set (18-25, 14-25, 12-25). Thiel came out strong and the Golden Tornadoes never recovered. The women's record slips to 4-18 overall, 1-8 in the PAC, while Thiel remains atop the PAC standings at 13-4 overall, 8-1 in PAC play.
Several Tomcat attack errors kept the GTs close in the first set, as the score was tied 4-4 following the first eight points. The visitors began to reign things in after that, taking a 15-9 lead midway through the frame. Geneva began to creep back in at that point, however, scoring five consecutive points to narrow the gap to one. The GTs' momentum ended there, unfortunately, and Thiel controlled the rest of the way to win the first set 25-18.
The women went down early in set two, and despite cutting the difference to three points, 11-8, just a few minutes later, they could not pull even. The Tomcats stayed in front, scoring nine of the last 10 points of the set to take it. Set three was not close either, with Thiel making an 11-1 run at one point to ensure its victory.
Juniors
