Volleyball’s Slide Continues against Westminster

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Geneva College women's volleyball team could not find a way out of its recent slide on Wednesday, losing in straight sets to Westminster inside Metheny Fieldhouse 25-19, 25-19, 25-7.

The first set stayed tight for quite a while, but with the score tied at 16-16, Westminster scored the next four points and won the set, 25-19.  Service errors were an issue for the Golden Tornadoes in the set, committing six to just one for the Titans.

The women put together their best stretch of the match early in the second set, getting multiple kills from freshman Rachel Baird in taking a 12-8 lead.  However, Westminster answered with 6-1 run to take the lead, and while Geneva held close for a while, the Titans scored the final five points of the set to win 25-19.

The final set got away from the Golden Tornadoes early as Westminster led from start to finish in winning 25-7.

Baird led the team with eight kills on a .350 hitting percentage, while junior Daphne Alexander added six kills.  Senior Heather Seubert contributed 23 digs.

Geneva will head to try again to find a win when the women travel to Waynesburg on Friday night for a 7:00 p.m. match.
