GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Geneva College women's tennis team swept through the Thiel Tomcats on Friday afternoon, sweeping Thiel 7-0. The women have now won three straight matches and improved to 7-5 overall, 4-3 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC).
The women breezed through the doubles portion of the match. Senior Lauren Estes and sophomore Chloe DeSanzo won 6-1 in No. 1 doubles. Senior CeJaelyn Perednia and junior Rachel Hodsden won 6-0 in No. 2 doubles, and senior Jenna Allison and junior Caroline Reed won 6-0 in No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, DeSanzo swept her opponent 6-0, 6-0 in No. 1 singles. Estes won 6-0, 6-2 in No. 2 singles, while Hodsden swept her opponent in No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-0. Freshman Paige Phillips also swept her opponent in No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-0, while Perednia won 6-1, 6-0 in No. 5 singles. Freshman Abigail Anderson wrapped up the sweep with a 6-0, 6-0 win in No. 6 singles.
Geneva enters the final week of the regular season having locked up a spot in the PAC Playoffs. The women will play their final PAC match of the season when they host Franciscan on Blackhawk Courts at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
