Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Late Goal Sinks Men’s Soccer at Saint Vincent

LATROBE, Pa. – Saint Vincent used a late goal on Wednesday night to knock off the Geneva  College men's soccer team, 1-0.  The Bearcat win breaks a Geneva 16-match winning streak in the series, dating back to 2008, and drops the men to 3-7-1 overall, 2-2-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC).  Saint Vincent improved to 9-2-2 overall, 3-1-1 in the PAC.

The game was a defensive struggle for most of the night, as both squads were unable to generate many offensive chances.  Saint Vincent totaled three shots in the first half, while Geneva generated just one.

Things opened up a little bit more in the second half, and junior Ojha Ojha almost broke through when he got behind the Saint Vincent defense in the 77th minute, but his shot as he was being pressured from behind was saved.

Two minutes later, the Bearcats found the net when Bruno Hurtado's shot from an angle looped just over the top of freshman goalkeeper Case Seymour's arms and into side netting of the goal.  The Golden Tornadoes pushed hard over final ten minutes but couldn't find the equalizer in falling, 1-0.

Saint Vincent finished with an 8-6 edge in shots, 5-3 in shots on goal.  Seymour made four saves in the first collegiate action of his career.

The men will try to break their two-game losing streak on Saturday with a match at Bethany, beginning at 2:30 p.m.
