LATROBE, Pa. – The Geneva College women's lacrosse team traveled to Saint Vincent on Saturday afternoon looking for its first-ever program win, but the Bearcats proved too strong and came away with a 14-3 victory.
The first half was a challenging one for the Golden Tornadoes. Geneva struggled to maintain much possession while Saint Vincent scored six goals in the first quarter and four more goals in the second quarter to take a 10-0 lead into the break.
Freshman Amanda Gillette got Geneva on the board to start the second half, and freshman Taylor Robinson and junior Hannah Skwarek added goals later in the half before Saint Vincent closed out the win.
Gillette finished with a team-high three shots, while also adding four draw controls. Skwarek scored and totaled four draw controls and two ground balls. Freshman Madi DeRuiter caused two turnovers. Freshman Lexi Lee made seven saves in goal.
Geneva will next be in action on Wednesday as the women travel to Bethany for a 6:00 p.m. match.
