NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Despite cold conditions on Saturday that saw temperatures hovering in the low 40s, the Geneva College men's and women's track and field teams posted multiple personal bests at the Westminster Invitational.
Graduate student Jack Garvin had a busy day, clearing 1.91 meters in the high jump while setting a personal best in the long jump at 6.19 meters, finishing seventh in both events. He also placed seventh in the javelin with a throw of 44.98 meters while placing tenth in the 100-meters with a time of 11.35 seconds.
Both the men and women had good days in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Freshman Ethan Haring placed fourth with a time of 9:56.66, while junior Eli Eisenberger was right behind in fifth place with a time of 10:00.84. For the women, graduate student Catherine O'Donnell placed fifth in the event with a time of 12:46.71, while sophomores Lydia Nagel (12:57.66) and Jordann Hicks (13:17.76) placed seventh and eighth, respectively.
The Geneva men had a good day in the sprints. Senior Desmond Lewis placed sixth in the 200-meters with a time of 22.62 seconds. Freshman Abraham Konneh finished seventh in the 100-meters with a time of 11.25 seconds, while he placed tenth in the 200-meters with a time of 22.80 seconds. In the 400-meters, junior Alec McCready ran a time of 52.39 seconds, while freshman Isaiah Etheridge posted a time of 53.67 seconds.
On the women's side, freshman Sara Vos ran a time of 13.17 seconds while also posting a jump of 4.67 meters in the long jump. Sophomore Daphne Alexander ran 17.03 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles.
In the pole vault, freshman Emma Thellman cleared 2.70 meters, which tied her for fourth place. And in the women's high jump, sophomore Katelyn Mathews and freshman Olivia Seetoo tied for sixth in the high jump, both clearing 1.50 meters.
In the relays, the men's team of Konneh, Lewis, senior Amari Andrews and freshman Jaden Duckett posted a time of 43.41 seconds, placing them fourth. For the women, Vos, juniors Rowan Dennis and Emily Garvin, and freshman Arionna White placed sixth with a time of 52.75 seconds.
The teams will be back in action next Wednesday with a Mini-Invitational at Grove City.
