NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Geneva women's tennis team got an impressive victory over Westminster on the road this afternoon, defeating the Titans for the first time in 27 years, 5-2. The last season the GTs secured a win over Westminster was in 1998, a streak that lasted 18 matches and spanned over two and a half decades. The win was especially important due to its potential to impact the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) standings at the end of the season and possibly determine Geneva's playoff fate.
The women began the day well with strong performances in all three doubles matches. Sophomore
Chloe DeSanzo and senior
Lauren Estes continued their excellent play in the top flight, winning their match 6-3. Junior
Rachel Hodsden and senior
CeJaelyn Perednia battled hard to win the No. 2 doubles match, 6-4, and senior
Jenna Allison and freshman
Paige Phillips finished off the doubles victories by taking the third flight contest, 6-2.
As she has all season long, DeSanzo handled her competition in No. 1 singles with ease, winning 6-1, 6-1 to secure her sixth straight singles win to start the season. Estes played well in No. 2 singles as well, fighting off her opponent for a 6-4, 6-3 victory.
