MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Geneva College women's track and field team competed at the Allegheny Classic on Saturday morning, a preview meet for the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships that will take place in November on the same course. Seniors Carmen Medvit, who finished first of the attached runners, and Hailey Carroll, who placed fourth, led the women to a third-place finish, tops among the PAC schools at the meet. A total of 18 schools were at the meet, though a few PAC schools did not have enough runners to qualify for the team results. A total of 158 runners raced.
Medvit dominated the field in the 6K race, finishing with a time of 23:18, 35 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor. Carroll was a welcome sight for the Golden Tornadoes in her first cross country race in almost two years after she has battled injuries over the last two seasons, and she came in fourth with a time of 24:18.
Sophomore Audrey McAlister also ran well, placing 11th overall with a time of 25:05. Freshman Molly Husted was fourth for the women, finishing 31st with a time of 26:39. Junior Anna Castro was right behind Husted for Geneva's fifth runner, placing 32nd with a time of 26:42.
The women are off next weekend before returning to competition on Saturday, October 4, at the Live in Louisville meet.
