Women’s Tennis Picks Up Important Win at Saint Vincent

LATROBE, Pa. – The Geneva College women's tennis team picked up an important victory on Monday afternoon at Saint Vincent, defeating the Bearcats 5-2 to help improve Geneva's chances of qualifying for the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) playoffs.  The win broke a four-game losing streak to Saint Vincent and improved the women's record to 5-5 overall, 2-3 in the PAC.

Geneva won all three of the doubles matches to earn the doubles point.  Senior Lauren Estes and sophomore Chloe DeSanzo took No. 1 doubles, 6-3.  The Golden Tornadoes swept the final two flights, with senior CeJaelyn Perednia and junior Rachel Hodsden winning 6-0 in No. 2 doubles and senior Jenna Allison and junior Caroline Reed winning 6-0 in No. 3 doubles.

In singles play, Estes won 6-2, 6-2 in No. 2 singles, while Hodsden also won convincingly in No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-2.  Freshman Abigail Anderson prevailed in No. 5 singles 6-4, 7-5, while freshman Paige Phillips finished off the match with a 7-6, 6-3 victory in No. 6 singles.

The women return to action on Wednesday with a home match against Waynesburg on Blackhawk Courts at 6:00 p.m.
